Update: Pt. 2

We just got back from the vet, and (no surprise) they couldn’t find anything super wrong with her paw. No real swelling, no real scrapes, nothing matter with her joints, and it wasn’t smelly. The only thing they could find was a raw spot that seemed a bit oozy – they said it seemed likely that she had stepped on something and then in licking it…. Well, exacerbated the problem.

I got an antiseptic spray (with an anti-itch property to help her not want to chew it) and a Cone-of-Shame. For $81… Ugh! I feel a little jipped. But now we have the Cone-of-Shame that we can keep and re-use if this happens again, so that’s kinda consoling.

The only problem? She HATES having her paws touched and messed with. This is going to be a tough couple days! We have to spray the BOTTOM of the paw 2-3 times, 2-3 times per day until it’s healed. Wish us luck!

Even though it feels like I  over-paid, I’m relieved it’s nothing more serious.

Glad you guys have a treatment plan. The way I always view the vet is who knows what would have happened had we not gone. God forbid it became infected with staph or something worse. Way to be proactive!

NOT THE CONE OF SHAME!! *sigh* we’re so sorry Sammie! We hope your paw feels better soon and that your mom rewards you after each application *hint-hint*

She is praised excessively, at the very least! It hasn’t seemed to maker her feel any better about it, though…
