Buster Cube

This past week, we have been introducing Sammie to her new Buster Cube. She’s never had a puzzle toy (from us) before, so we wanted to introduce her to it gradually.

First, we filled it up and tossed it for her, and she ate the food that fell out. Then, we started showing her that she could toss it on her own by putting her paw on it. After that, it was game on!

It’s so much fun to watch her play with it. She’s so focused on it that nothing else matters. To top it off, she’s never in one spot long. She’ll start off with it in the middle of the living room, but by the time she’s done, she’ll have hit the kitchen, the entryway, and every nook and cranny in between. We often have to move it because she’ll get it stuck somewhere.

Because it takes so much food to fill it, we’ve been feeding her with it every night. It takes her 30 minutes to an hour to get most of the goodness out, and afterward, we have a calmer pooch. For those of you who were wondering what we thought of it – we love it!

You are so lucky with Sammie! We’ve tried Ray on all sorts of “puzzle” feeding toys to try and slow his meals down however, he just gets frustrated and totally stresses out! The closest we have come to success is with stuffing a Kong and then freezing it. A large frozen Kong keeps him busy for almost 10 mins. 😦

The food comes out super easily when we first stuff it, which I think helps keep her interested. Frozen peanut butter goes quickly for her as well, so I’m glad we’ve finally found something that works! I hope you’re able to find something that’ll work for Ray…

It really keeps her occupied! It’s not so difficult she gets frustrated, but it’s not so easy that she gets bored.

I can just see Bella right now knocking that thing all over to get the kibble out. Nikita would probably follow behind her munching! LOL (meaning, let Bella do all the hard work to get it out)

Nikita would say she has the right idea.
