Chow Down

I don’t think I’ve ever told you about how much I love T.J.Maxx – it’s a lot! Luckily for me (unluckily for my wallet), we live about a block away, and I can walk there any time I’m in the mood for a bit of shopping.

This past week, I was shopping for items to fill a cat-themed basket we’re raffling off at work when I came across a Kyjen Dog Games Slo-Bowl for $10. I’d been wanting to try a slow feeder out, but I hadn’t found one that caught my fancy until that moment. It’s heavy duty, holds up to 4 cups of food (we only feed Sammie one cup at a time, so it’s plenty big – but honestly, I can’t imagine filling it much fuller than we do!), and even has little grippies on the bottom of the bowl so it doesn’t slide all over the place.

It definitely slows her down. What used to take her less than a minute to eat now takes about 5 minutes (okay, so I haven’t timed it, but it takes a LOT longer than it used to). And when the bowl is empty, she hunts around the edges for any bits she might have missed. So far, it’s been a good purchase!

What are your favorite bowls to use? Or do you prefer a feeder toy like the Kong or the Buster Cube?

We both have “slow bowls” mainly because I (Sammy) INHALE my food. Mom bought me (Sammy) a “slow bowl” first butt after a few months I’d figured it out and was gobbling up my food in no time again. So she found me a fancier one and Wally inherited my old on – we now finish more or less at the same time and I (Sammy) eat a lot slower and also go hunting for stray kibble *BOL*

Haha! Sammy, it sounds like you’re too smart for your own good 😉
