One Year Adoptiversay

One year ago yesterday, Aaron and I brought Sammie home and made her a part of our family. It doesn’t seem real! How can it have been a year already?

We’ve learned a lot – all of us have – during that time. Aaron and I have learned the importance (and joy) of evening walks.

Sammie has learned that toys are awesome, and playing with them even more so!

The cats have learned patience, that Sammie won’t bother them as much if they stand their ground, and to put up with doggie kisses (okay that one’s just Tubby, and he doesn’t put up with them long – picture to that effect coming Wednesday). They’ve even learned that Sammie can make a decent pillow when it’s time to snuggle with mom.

It was tough in the beginning. There were days that I cried, wondering if everyone was going to get along, if we would ever become a family. One year later, and I’m so glad we never gave up on her, nor her on us. She’s amazing, and I can’t imagine our life without her bouncy, joyous self.

Did you find Sammie in a parking lot (1st picture)?

Happy Gotcha Day! Choppy will eat a treat (or two or ten) to celebrate!

Ahh, that’s so cool and congratulations for making such a happy family! I had the same tears, wondering what I’d done and would we all survive! We’re about 21 months down the track and it’s fantastic (with a few little bumps along the way). It’s only my husband who occasionally feels neglected 😉
