City Pup Goes Country

I woke up Friday morning feeling the best I had felt since Monday. I went to work, but ended up taking a half day because I got really tired by noon. Saturday morning, Aaron and I woke up early and took off to his grandparents’ farm to look after the cattle while they were gone. Sammie came along of course and had a BLAST! Check it out:

We ran her around the farm for about an hour straight, stopping only for a couple water breaks. It’s like she belonged out there! Except for chasing the cows… She got a lot better by the end of the trip, though – when we noticed her attention shift to them, we yelled ‘NO!’, and she was immediately redirected back to us or to other smells. By the end of the day, she was one exhausted pooch.

On Sunday, she probably would have gone with us for another hour long run, but it was so much colder that we hurried home to bundle up in our apartment and watch some football. When we got home, she curled up in a little ball in different corners of the living room or her kennel and slept all afternoon. Despite her morning energy, I think we wore her out! Let’s see how long it lasts…

So much fun! Hope she behaved herself with the cattle – I know mine wouldn’t 🙂

What a pawsome outing and way to get rid of all your energy!

Looks like Sammy is a farm dog. She just has to learn her p’s and q’s around the cows. Personally, cows scare me. They are really big.
