A Long Holiday

Sorry I haven’t written since last Wednesday – SO MANY THINGS HAPPENED OVER THANKSGIVING!! Like what? Well…

Aaron and I bought a house! We closed on Wednesday, so we’ve spent the past week moving everything over to the house, cleaning the apartment, and unpacking. There are still so many boxes to go!

The house is adorable. It’s a two story brick house in a great neighborhood with a decently sized fenced-in back yard. The dogs LOVE it! And we love that we can let them out and keep our eye on them without going out in the bitter cold with them.

Aaron and I also got engaged!!

My goodness, weddings are expensive. I’ve been trying to find a venue, and most of the ones I like cost around $5,000. WHO CAN AFFORD THAT?! That’s BEFORE food and booze (potluck, anyone?), photography, decorations (soooo much DIY in my future), DJ, flowers, etc…

Then there was celebrating all of the good news with friends and family for Thanksgiving (and having them help us move). Let me tell you, I am so thankful for such a great support system in my life!

Emma has been walking and running around fine on her splinted leg, so we just decided to cut it off of her, and I’m so glad we did! She had grown so much that the bottom of the splint was cutting into her toes, poor girl. She’s been acting like nothing happened ever since, so I think she’s healed!

Unfortunately, now that we’re in a house, we have to teach the spoiled little puppy about stairs. She thinks she’s small and can’t get up them by herself, but she definitely can – we’ve seen her do a few steps already. She just needs CONFIDENCE! Although I’m sure we need to be careful what we wish for… Once she masters them, she’s going to be a nightmare to contain!

I’m happy Emma is better and that you bought a house – I love being in my house with the fenced yard. And that you two peeps got engaged – I love having my Dad, who Mom married seven years ago. What a fun, happy-bark time for you all.

Wow, massive congratulations on all your news! That’s great stuff 🙂 We bought a house, changed jobs & got married in the same year & survived, ha! We cheated by having our wedding in our backyard, so it was a housewarming too (it’s a big backyard, & people had the run of the house, too, of course!) We had a caterer to provide hot finger food, our families brought desserts, & my friend got us the wedding cake as her present. Just an idea, but good luck with all your plans 🙂

Thank you!!! Those are GREAT ideas – ones Aaron and I have been discussing (although we’re not brave enough to do it at our house. We’re thinking more along the lines of HIS PARENTS’ house, haha!)

Oh I like that idea even better! Yes, we were very nervous about it (long story but it had to be in winter, ugh) but had a marquee, heat lamp thingie, and had it during the afternoon, with a celebrant under our favourite tree. We both have big families – this way we were able to invite heaps including kids, which was so much fun 😉 It was only our cats who hated it!
