Sleeping Arrangements Post Puppy

I described for you all how we all crammed into bed not long after we got Sammie. Things had changed around a bit since that time, but they changed even more once we got Emma.

Aaron gets half of the king-size bed. He would probably interject here and exclaim, “I do not!”, but he does. I share the other half with the animals. Emma sleeps between us, and I often wake to her paws in my face or her head on some part of my body. Sammie sleeps at my feet, so I can’t really sleep on my back – I have to be curled up on my side around her. Tubby usually sleeps with Aaron on his side of the bed, and Frou has taken to sleeping under one of our side tables. That being said, I did wake up to her snuggling me by my tummy, opposite the side that Emma sleeps on, the other night and I was over the moon!

Come morning, we’re not necessarily in the same spots. Emma especially moves around quite a bit, so it’s hard to tell where we’ll find her (we’ve even woken up to her sleeping on the floor by the bed). Before the alarm goes off, Sammie likes to come up and give me kisses to wake me up. Sometimes, she’ll settle in and be my little spoon, which I always love.

As uncomfortable as it is sometimes, I’m always happy to have the animals in bed with us. On the weekends, though, we get up when they tell us to (consistently 7am), take them out, and then put them in their kennels so we can sleep just a teensy bit longer. The cats usually appreciate this alone time with their mom and dad, too, so it works out best for everyone.

Do you all fit like a jigsaw puzzle into bed, too? Or do your dogs have their own beds to sleep in at night? Let me know!

How lovely! We have always let our pets to sleep with us, they are members of a family. Our cat Kosmo sleeps between us and snores very loud, like a human, and we love that noice.

Oh man! Our bed is like musical chairs. Dad has his piece which is better than Mom’s piece because now that Macy is here, I sleep at Mom’s feet (this makes her sad because I used to tuck into her tummy) and so she can’t stretch out. Macy starts out at Mom’s feet but gets up and sleeps under the covers, in the middle and heats up the whole bed. Molly sleeps between Mom and Dad’s pillows. Jamison has been sleeping in the office or on the couch but sometimes he’ll still come in and sleep on Mom’s pillow for a little bit. *ear licks* Noodle

Wait, Noodle… Are you saying you choose to sleep close to Macy in the evenings?! I’m SHOCKED!

No, no, no. Macy sleeps on the left side of Mom’s feet and I sleep on the RIGHT side! No touching. The only time we sleep near each other is when I’m already sleeping and she sneaks up on me. I’m glad we cleared that up! *ear licks* πŸ˜€

Snorts! Mom/dad said they bought the king size Sleep Number bed because of us… I know that’s not true. But here we go. Mom is a 65 on the Sleep Number bed. I myself as well as Houdini like that number. Dad is a 100 – can you believe that? It’s like sleeping on a rock! Well, the two purr things huddle with him. So there we are – 2 humans, 1 pig, 1 dog and 2 purr things in a Sleep Number bed. XOXO – Bacon

Funny, there’s a theme here! We also bought a King-size bed – we told people it’s ‘cos we’re both tall but it’s mainly to accommodate pets πŸ˜‰ Tillie has to stay on her cot mattress on the floor due to her size & arthritis, but she seems happy there (she gets too hot anyway). But otherwise it’s a moving circus of 2 cats & 1 medium dog, all of whom usually prefer me – I think it’s something to do with warmer, squishier female curves, ha ha! My hubby’s too bony & too restless πŸ™‚

Haha! Aaron says it’s because he tosses and turns and doesn’t put up with them laying at his feet, but I doubt it. I can shove my feet underneath Sammie and she doesn’t move or care! So I think you’re right πŸ˜‰
