Catching Up

Hey guys! Sorry we have been so absent from the blog. A lot has happened recently: a couple weeks ago, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. He’s generally in good spirits and is ready for the fight of his life. He had his kidney removed Wednesday and is now at home recuperating.

Good thing I have a couple girls who are always happy to give me cuddles when I need them.

Well wishes sent his way would be very much appreciated!

Your ‘4-legged nurses’ are adorable. Sending ‘pawsitive’ healing thoughts to you and your dad. Thinking of you.

I’m so sorry Sam. Keeping your dad and the rest of your family in my prayers.
I’m sure your girls are taking their job of giving feel better cuddles very seriously.
    Hugs, Margret

Thanks, Margret – we really appreciate it. And they absolutely are! I think Frou might be taking it the most serious of them all, though… Everytime I sit, she climbs into my lap!

😊 Sure sounds like it! Out of our 3, Bonnie seems to have more of a knack for figuring out who needs her the most.

I think he and my mom are planning on going to MD Anderson as soon as he’s recovered to get a treatment plan from the best of the best! So we’re hopeful.

Prayers have been prayed, paws and fingers have been crossed, and happy healing thoughts have been sent. Your dad will be fine. Medicine is amazing – especially when your head is in the right place to let it go ahead and do it’s job.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

I am really sorry to hear this! Prayers and positive thoughts sent your way. The pups look so concerned. They know, don’t they? BTW, I do a lot of volunteering for the American Cancer Society and I know that they have some great things to help people who are going through cancer. Once you get your head around the diagnosis, you might consider calling 800-227-2345, just to get some information. They will send you a binder with information about kidney cancer which also has a place to keep all medical information in one place, so you don’t have to worry about hunting it up when you need to take it to the doctor. There is also a Hope Lodge in Houston where you can stay while there for your appointments. The people at the 1-800 number can help you with that. There have been so many advances in the last few years. Hang in there. It will be okay.

Thank you so very much! That is great information to have! I passed it on to my mom, so they can look up the Lodge when they go down.

As for the animals – I think they know something is going on. They can sense their mom’s not quite been herself. My mom said their animals seem to know too – Boomer has been my dad’s shadow recently!

Just so you know, I think you have to have reservations for the Hope Lodge before you go. So, have your mom call ahead.
