Vet Visit

I recently did something less than smart – I took Frou-Frou, Mr. Tubs, AND Sammie to the vet. All at once. Frou got checked out first, because she was the easiest to grab:

She thought she found a clever hiding spot, but it turns out that all the cats think so. She went through the exam just fine, but she did not like being examined for a poop sample, if you catch my drift.

Toward the end of her exam, a cat getting fluid in the back started YOWLING miserably and would not stop! It set Frou on edge, and Mr. Tubs was completely stressed out by the time it was his turn. He took the first shot alright, but he was so angry about the second one that he tried to squirm away and BENT THE NEEDLE – they had to get a different one out to try again. In between different exams, he would try to climb on the tech’s shoulder and just hugged her around her neck while she held onto him…

Sammie was the last to be looked over, and she was probably the calmest of the bunch, not that she liked it much better. She hates her paws being touched, and she yelped in pain with each needle prick, but she was happy when it was over and she got to leave!

I think next time, everyone goes in separately. But good news: everyone is healthy and looking great! The only caveat to that is I need to take Tubby in to get his teeth cleaned, before his next yearly checkup. I’m sure he will be thrilled.

I hear ya and feel for you. I’ve gone with 3 large dogs at once for the rabies shots and wellness checks. WHAT in the world was I thinking?? 🙂 Glad to hear everyone is fine.

Oh man. Emma and Sammie in the room at the same time? I can hardly imagine the rambunctiousness that would ensue! You are a brave, brave woman.

To add to the chaos, our vet holds a first come-first serve line for vaccinations on Saturdays so there are usually anywhere from 100-150 dogs and cats with their owners and small kids. Some of whom aren’t all that keen on that one hysterical Husky, 3 dogs behind. LOL

Wow! Is that the only time they do vaccinations?!

No, you can certainly make an appointment but the cost is significantly lower at these first come/first serve Saturdays. When you have 3 dogs, sometimes costs do matter. 😉

Oh… then I’d definitely be there on Saturdays!

With 3 dogs and a book to keep it real. 😁

Two’s my limit. Two hands, two animals. If God wanted me to take 3, He would have given me 3 hands. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.

Makes sense to me! Two dogs, two cats (although I keep trying to convince my husband we need a kitten).

I think “need” is the wrong word! 🙂

3 kitties at the vet at once!? That’s a tough nut to crack! Thank goodness that’s over with and everybody is looking good.

    Love and licks,

Luckily (or maybe unluckily?), it was two kitties and a pup!

We tried taking my mom and dad’s kitten and Tippy to the vet at the same time. That was a mistake! Tippy hates cats and the kitten isn’t particularly fond of Tippy either. So, Tippy and I had to wait in the waiting room while Socks got examined. From then on, we go separately.

My brain only went so far as to recognize that they coexist well, so it wouldn’t be a problem in that respect. However, I didn’t think through my lack of three arms and how I was going to hold on to the very strong Sammie while keeping the kitties calm!
