My husband and I adopted a two year old German Shepherd puppy named Sammie at our local animal shelter on August 23, 2014. Then, on November 7, 2015, we adopted a 9 week old Doodleman Pinscher we named Emma. Now, our world will never be the same – hopefully our cats can learn to forgive us!

Welcome to the world of being a pet owner! Nothing is more rewarding than rescuing a dog. We rescued two! Our first dog, Nikita, came from a litter of seven and after the pups were born, the owners killed the Mom with anti-freeze on purpose and the pups were in dire need of help. Our local APL rescued the pups and got them all healthy enough to be adopted. We never will regret that day coming home with a little furry bundle of joy which changed our lives forever. Almost two years later, we rescued our second dog, Bella, who was found wandering the streets of Cleveland, OH as someone threw her out to defend for herself after she was born. Those people will never know what a joyful dog she turned out to be, but that is because we give her all the love and affection in the whole world. Both our dogs will never know that horrible world ever again, as they have found their forever home with us and our life is so much better because of them. Pure joy is what it is having Nikita and Bella with us.

Oh my goodness, those poor babies! I’m so glad they have you now.
Part of me wishes I knew Sammie’s background and what her life was like before, especially since she was a momma, but part of me is also glad I don’t – I’d hate to know she was abused or mistreated… She’s absolutely perfect and a huge bundle of joy and love. Whatever her previous life, it’s not hurt her outlook on life or the people around her.
Sounds like we have both been blessed!

In a way, I am kinda glad we did get to find out the background of our dogs. It would not matter either way, but I am still glad. As for our second rescue, Bella, we still don’t know what kind of dog she is, and we are ok with that. Nikita is part German Shepherd and part Akita. I hope we become friends because it appears we have a lot in common. Our dogs have blessed us in so many ways, and I agree, that no matter what happened to them earlier, it has not affected them at all. Hugs!
