Her poops may not be showing a whole lot of improvement yet, but there have been some signs things are getting better! The past two nights, we have been able to sleep through the night without her waking us up trying to get out. She’s also not going nearly as frequently, and she is acting like her normal, peppy self.
Based on suggestions from you all and from reading articles about how to help dogs get over bouts of diarrhea, she is now on a bland diet. That way, if things still don’t improve, we can at least go to the vet saying we’ve tried everything we could (1, waiting it out with normal food intake – 2, no food for 24 hours and then reduced kibble – 3, bland diet).
Any other suggestions would be most welcome!
My pup responds well to plain Greek yogurt, when his tummy is upset. I’ve also done canned pumpkin and, under other circumstances, chicken broth. But he’s never had a tummy upset for the length of time that yours has been struggling. Good thoughts to you all.

I bought some canned pumpkin as well to try along with the rice.
Thanks for the well wishes and additional suggestions!

Poor pup! Hope Sammie feels better soon. Maybe try to add a bit of rice to help?

That’s what we’re on to now! If this doesn’t work, it’s back to the vet she goes… Which stinks since she was healthy as can be just the week before these tummy issues presented themselves!

No need to reply, but I’m just wondering if it could be a bad bag of kibble.

I don’t think so… We had the bag for a couple weeks before she started having diarrhea. Thanks for the thought, though!

Poor Sammie-girl. We hope you start feeling better soon. We don’t have any other suggestions other those already given and what you are already doing. Just make sure you are drinking enough water too.

I just went through a bout of the squirts and the vet told Mom to feed me vanilla yogurt (yummy!). She also gave me a drug called metronizadol. That stopped it really fast, although I did get to eat the rest of my yogurt.

Rice stopped Sammie up pretty quickly as well! We’ll have to remember the yogurt for next time – I bet she would LOVE it!

Mommy fed me lots of rice, too, instead of my regular food, just because it is something she calls “bland.” Maybe that also helped them stop! I’m just glad I’m not getting those cramps any more. I always managed to get outside, but it was NO fun.

Sammie did not always manage to get outside, so you’re lucky!
